School Auditorium – In 1915, when Riverside’s current building was completed, one of it’s major features and a rarity in its time, was the full-sized auditorium designed to house the performing arts, school assemblies, rallies, debates, guest speakers, variety shows and more. Today, the auditorium is used as robustly as ever; however, after 100 years and several rounds of renovating, the acoustics were sorely in need of modernization as was the space itself. In 2015, the Sound Investment campaign was begun by the RUHS Foundation. They partnered with the High school in a major fund raising project. Within the space of 2 years, Sound Investment raised $32,000 primarily with the help of our Alums, Friends of Riverside and the High School. The average donation was less than $100 so though we were happy to receive larger donations. particularly from the high school, the fact that so many gave what they could, made it a true community effort. This resulted in all new curtains for every window in the auditorium, a new stage curtain, the entire space being repainted including the gold filigree decorative features, refinishing of seats and finally, a state of the art sound system.
